Brief

Senior Project.

For my senior project, I created a portable escape room that travels to parties and events. Because the age demographic of people who participate in escape rooms and those who are more likely to be involved in a fatal drunk driving accident are similar, the purpose of this project is to not only to be more accessible to players but to also give them a safer option for party entertainment when drinking has been involved.

The term “enigma” means something or someone that is mysterious, puzzling, or difficult to understand. Because of this, I choose it to be the name of this company. I also incorporated a puzzle piece into the logo because it symbolizes something being solved. I did this because I wanted players to understand that even with the name being “enigma” and it’s something that would be difficult to figure out, you’ll still be able to solve it in the end. I also decide to pick a shape that resembles more of an “i” so that the puzzle piece could take it’s place but it also can resemble a silhouette of a person which also implies people playing the game. For the aesthetics of the brand, I wanted to stick with the mysterious theme that escape rooms have, so I looked into vintage mystery posters. With doing that, I found a lot of Saul Bass’s work and was influenced by his usage of a limited color pallet of three colors and simple illustrations and used it as a point of departure.

Following the creation of the style guide, I started creating my collateral pieces. I first picked three themes to center my design around, that being medieval, western, and zombie. Because this is a portable escape room, I first needed to create a truck design since the game is built on the back of a box truck. Because of this, each truck is assigned one theme where it gives the name of the game and shows the game’s environment. After creating the truck, I then created a t-shirt design to be worn by the crew members and created three different types of advertisements for each of the three games, those being bus stop, billboard, and a poster series. I then created a motion graphic intro to the game for players to watch after they step into the truck so that they get the run down of their situation, what their goal is, and how much time they have. I lastly created a website for people to be able to book which game they want to play and when and to also give more information if needed.
